We Lead with Relationships to Meet High Expectations
Social MediaDistrict Calendar

As an alternative education program, it is our mission to meet the unique academic, social and emotional needs of all students through learning that connects student's lives to their future in a safe, supportive and nurturing environment in order to empower and inspire all students for middle school, high school and college and career readiness.

Anchor Picture #5In doing so, the SPS Anchor at Harbor Landing sets high expectations, provides choice and maintains small class size. High expectations are set for all students and staff to take an active role in building a safe learning environment and positive relationships through restorative practices. Academic expectations are set high where students are provided with choice to engage in deep, real-world learning.  The small class size allows teachers to give students more individual attention and tailor lessons specific to student's needs. Essentially, the small class size allows for greater connectedness between staff and students to create safety, enhance learning and build community.

SCHOOL SETTING

A smaller teacher student ratio (not to exceed 1:10) affords teachers, students and support staff to foster and build a trusting school community where students feel safe to learn.

A daily student incentive system is implemented to measure progress with time on task and to encourage desired behaviors and socially appropriate interactions for each student, each day.

ENROLLMENT

The SPS Anchor at Harbor Landing requires a referral and is a “school of choice” program. Once the referral is accepted, enrollment remains an option/choice made by the student and parent. Students are accepted after a shadow day and/or intake meeting takes place. SPS Anchor Program administration, in conjunction with Stamford Public Schools administration reserves the right not to accept a prospective candidate if it’s determined that the SPS Anchor at Harbor Landing would not best serve the needs of the student.
